Green Trade, Readiness Index, Textile and Footwear IndustryAbstract
This analysis aims to identify the readiness and challenges of the textile and footwear export sector in facing the era of green trade. To assess the readiness of the textile and footwear sector in adapting to the trend of green trade implementation, this analysis adopts the Readiness Index method used in the Indonesia Industry 4.0 (INDI 4.0) study published by the Ministry of Industry, with adjustments to indicators covering aspects such as knowledge, product specifications, resources, production processes, and work culture. Based on the analysis results, the readiness index of the textile and footwear sector in facing the green trade trend is at an average score of 1.55, which indicates that, on average, the industry is "not yet ready but has awareness" of the green trade trend. However, the relatively low index value also suggests that few industries or business actors are fully aware of the global shift towards green trade. The analysis identifies several challenges faced by the industry, including the relatively limited market for green products, technological aspects, as well as the relatively high costs and prices. To address these challenges, several policy recommendations are proposed, including establishing partnerships, improving market access, and promoting green products in the textile and footwear sector, as well as creating domestic market opportunities. Additionally, efforts to develop policies and regulations that support green trade, such as harmonizing existing and fragmented policies across ministries and agencies (K/L) into an integrated system, are necessary to ensure an effective and efficient green transformation in the industrial sector.
